Hello,

Am a RF Guy doing RF layouts... am doing a 4 layer board with copper fills on every layer. am placing many ground vias to connect copper fills on each layer.. am finding it very painful for the following reason.

1. Placing all the via's, connecting them to the GND Net, then doing copper fill. works well so far...

2. Then I change the schematic... on which i do not have all gnd vias represented.... upon updating pcb from schematic all my hard work of connecting vias to gnd and flood planes gets disconnected...

Questions...

Other than having a "gnd via" represented on the schematic for every single via on the pcb...

can I create via that is always connected to gnd in diptrace pcb editor that will not get disconnected from gnd upon a update from schematic editor?

Kind Regards,

How about putting a bunch of GND vias on the schematic, but all on a separate page? I sometimes do this with all the bypass capacitors on a particular design.

PCB Layout shouldn't disconnect static vias while renewing design from schematic. Can you send both schematic and pcb files to support at diptrace.com. Thanks.

Hello e-e and Alex,

Did both methods... Static Via and Schematic Page full of vias...

Made a component that was a via and attached a via pad to the component, then went to town placing via's in schematic. This method worked out well because I was able to "Arrange components" after adjusting "Placement Setup" to desired spacing between vias... then I just picked the vias as needed and moved them in nicely spaced groups and onto layout...

I also did the Static Via... This worked as well... Previously did not try the static via... my bad.

Thanks for the help.

Kind Regards,
