Hi,

I have started the Schematic Tutorial. I am trying to rotate pin numbers on transistors (paqe 16), and while selecting a pin number, "R" or the "Space" key do not rotate said number. I'm sure that I'm missing something simple here. What am I doing wrong, and what should I be doing. Thanks.

Hi gschreib,

You need to hold down the mouse button when you press "r" or space.

Hello K3PTO,

Yes, the mouse button. Allows you to rotate the whole transistor with "R" or "SPACE" Thank you. But now the "C", "E" and the "B" of the transistor are lying on their back or are upside down; I haven't been able to figure out how to deal with those individual nomenclatures. When I get the tiny blue box around the "B", I can move it around and put it where I want, but holding the mouse button down and doing "R" or "SPACE" does not rotate that "piece". Is there a method to do this? Perhaps a dialog box or something that I'm not aware of? It's been a long time since I used DOS Orcad. (like a couple of decades ago, or so), so all this stuff is not at all fresh in my head. Perhaps you could point me in the right direction. Any explanation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks - gschreib

Hi gschreib,

There is no way to change the orientation of the pin numbers. The DIPTrace team has been asked about this and, as far as I know, the feature has not yet been implemented.

Hello K3PTO,

Ah, yes. Thank you for the reply. Now that I know that, I can get on with the important part of learning how to use the DipTrace EDA. It's the design package that's important; a small detail like the issue that I raised is not consequential to the overall design scheme. Having spent the early '90's with the seemingly inscrutable Orcad PCB and SCH, I have learned that ease of use, and a short learning curve trumps just about all other factors. And so far, DT appears pretty intuitive. I used to get so many updates from Orcad that my head would spin just trying to keep track of the changes. They didn't fix many bugs. They spent their time (and mine), adding bells and whistles to "keep up" with the competition. DipTrace looks pretty solid so far. I hope that they can resist the urge to continuously modify their product into oblivion. Thanks again for the reply. I really appreciate it... - gschreib
