Hi.

I'm finding myself creating quite a few components lately for a study project. And I'm missing some things I had when using gEDA.

For example, when creating a new component, it seems that I have to type (or paste) in each pin name manually one by one.

Is there no way to paste in all the names in one operation? In gEDA, there's a lot of community tools and scripts to automate creating components, footprints etc. Does any such tools exist for Diptrace? If there is no such thing, I guess I'll write something myself (the Ascii format seems fairly straight forware). It just seems like something a lot of users would want. Or maybe I'm wrong?

Best,
Tomas

More specifically, I really liked how the TrageSym tool can help building components in gEDA:

I'm looking towards getting something like this for DipTrace!

I was told by Alex that a scripting language is planned for DipTrace.
It seems a bit odd that no one else has replied to your post.

We stopped the scripting language due to other activities with higher priority. But we will probably continue its developing in future.

lindquist, i think, the most convenient way is to import pin data from BSDL files and/or IBIS models, they usually available for big ICs. They contains pin numbers, names, directions and PWR/GNDs, all in text form, easy for parsing (at least IBIS, BSDL is more complex).
