Re: Schematic & Layout Export to Eagle

18 months and counting... With Eagle having the larger installer base compared to Diptrace by a huge amount, my view is that Diptrace could only gain by a well-done Eagle import and export. Yeah, import is doable (but not really convenient) with the included scripts, but many more people would jump ...

Re: Eagle file conversion fails with "division by zero"

Well, looking a little closer the ULP syntax seems VERY similar to C, so I went and fixed the files myself. I added checks before each division to make sure the divisor is not zero. At least for my files the conversion now runs without errors and yields usable results. Modified ULP scripts are attac...

Eagle file conversion fails with "division by zero"

I am trying to convert an Eagle design to Diptrace using the ulp scripts supplied with Diptrace. Unfortunately conversion fails, giving me a "division by zero" and resulting in an incorrect, unusable ASCII files. I have stripped down the Eagle design the the absolute minimum (basically just the PCB ...

Re: Schematic & Layout Export to Eagle

From today's Yahoo group discussion it seems I am not the only one who would greatly welcome such a capability.

Schematic & Layout Export to Eagle

Is there any good way to export a Diptrace design (schematic as well layout to Eagle)? I know about the Eagle import scripts (i.e. Eagle --> Diptrace), they work pretty well. The problem is that Eagle is still considered by many design houses as the low-end standard format, while I design everything...

Re: Keep refdes when pasting in Schematics?

Ahhh, I was sure there must be a way. That works for me.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Keep refdes when pasting in Schematics?

Diptrace Layout has the option to keep the Refdes unchanged when cutting/pasting components or groups of components (Edit --> Keep Refdes While Pasting). Is there a way to do the same in schematics? If so, I was unable to find it. The reason I would need this is that I want to move a group of compon...

Re: bill of materials wrong for hierarchic schematics

Ahhh, thank you, I had missed that setting! Enabled it and the Refdes now indeed lists all the instances of each component. Also the quantities seem correct now - no idea why this didn't work before...

bill of materials wrong for hierarchic schematics

It seems that Diptrace does not take into account when a hierarchic block is used for more than once instance. It only counts the components of this block once (and only lists the Refdes "root", e.g. R123 instead of R123_1, R123_2, R123_3 etc.). This means the BOM contains wrong quantities for these...

Re: Why does Renew Design from schematic mess up par propert

Well, ExpressPCB can do this because it only transfers the netlist (which pin on which Refdes is connected to what) from Schematic to Layout, but nothing else. You can actually accidentally place an 8 pin chip in your layout while this RefDes is a 16 pin chip in your schematic and ExpressPCB won't n...
