Re: DipTrace 3.1 beta

How does one get to the object-alignment and net-highlight features? I don't see them on the main or context menus.

Re: Nets merge without warning

For users like me -- I don't know what fraction of the user community that is -- Diptrace's current behavior is almost backward. On the schematic, logical connection is important, and physical connections are implicit. Every time a I place a GND component, I generate another piece of the GND net. Th...

Re: How do I keep the RefDes from printing on the silkscreen

Right-click on a component and then click Properties. On the Markings tab, you can choose what marking (if any) should appear with the component. Sometimes having the RefDes as a marking is OK, but its default location is inconvenient or ugly. If that's your problem, the solution is to turn off grid...

Re: Component selection

Using a minimum pitch of 0.04" turns out to get the same 196 hits. Using a minimum pitch of 0 gets 457. Then expanding to include both SMD & TH components gets 608. Why do you ask?

Re: Component selection

This topic has been discussed here for > 2 years. DipTrace is cursed with its 1960s-style database. As noted in a thread called 'filtering & searching', I have mentioned a solution that I made for myself. I exported all of the DipTrace libraries into ASCII, and my program reads the ASCII files once ...

3D models incompatible with Win 7/64

I downloaded the new 2GB models3d_beta.exe file, but it won't run in my environment (Windows 7/64). It gets through the usual "Are you sure you want to launch ..." dialog, and then I get The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's syst...

Re: Easy browse, search, preview for the DipTrace 3d Models

It is indeed brilliant, and it should be integrated with the rest of Diptrace, not just distributed with it. Here as with the larger problem of the libraries, DipTrace's slapdash data management makes contributions like this difficult to maintain. For example, the next distribution of the model coll...

Re: Library search sucks and here's why

Once all of the above is complete, can we search the entire database from within DipTrace? Once the component is found, can we still preview it before placing it? No. My program is free-standing. It (or something like it) should properly be integrated into DipTrace, but I can't do that. This busine...

Re: Library search sucks and here's why

Can you provide a link to your library searcher & perhaps bring it to the DipTrace developers once again. I'll be happy to help other people install & operate my library searcher, but it's not just a matter of passing a link. Go back one level and accept these fundamentals: If your program is handl...
