The Locked Shape Property Edit Foot Blaster

It happened again! I right clicked on a shape , and selected Properties , then I busied my self editing the Points . After I got it all nicely the way I wanted it, I clicked OK ... " The object is locked. Please unlock it first! " Now you @#%$@##! tell me!!! Gaaahhhh! Gets me every time!!! Please! P...

Non-standard Graphics Interface Gets Me Everytime!

I bounce back and forth between Illustrator and DipTrace, and each time I do, I have to relearn my power-user moves. Very frustrating. For instance, in Dip Trace, to Zoom In, it's the Mouse Wheel. For Illustrator it's Alt-MouseWheel. Grab and Move, in Dip Trace, is Hold-Right-Mouse-Button and Drag. ...

The work around is to turn off the layer which you want to ensure no changes are actioned on.
Nice one!

Re: Locked and Loathed

Hint: After 35 years of software learning the first thing I do is always backup my work before attempting something new. There probably is a zillion things that can happen that the programmers can not anticipate, doing File/Save as takes but a second. After 40 years, same conclusion, same disciplin...

Locked and Loathed

I have a situation where, on one side of my board, is a Touch Place [implemented as a Copper Pour], along with some silkscreen. I have all these elements precisely positioned, so, I locked them [so they wouldn't be inadvertently moved]. On the other side, in the same proximity, I have a number of su...

Schematics: Multiple Replace Part...

Occasionally, I have the need to Replace multiple parts, in a Schematic. One example of this arises when I want to change a schematic, that is designed for hand-soldering SMD parts. Most of the SMD components, that I use, have two versions: one for hand soldering, and one for mechanical assembly ['c...

Comp Editor: Group Flip

Here's another example where, when designing a Component, it would be wonderful to be able to group a set of objects, making up, for instance, a Component Symbol, and then do a Horizontal or Vertical flip [aka Mirror ]. In other words, the ability to go, without having to edit points or redraw the d...

Re: PCB object group properties

Cute, but a hack. Would be nice if Grouped Objects would just behave like single objects, when using tools like Align Objects, or Properties, etc.

Re: Align Component to Grid

Yet, text objects DON'T automagically snap to the grid when moved. So, if you want to, for instance, align a label to a pin , on a generic terminal block , you have to do something like, set the Grid Size to a small value , then futts with the thing until it looks aligned . Nice would be if the cent...

Re: PCB object group properties

I wasn't able to find what you're describing, but, I do something similar, using the "Grid Size" feature. BUT, are you able to do this thing that you're describing, on a grouping? In other words, if I select a number of objects, then Ctrl-G, to Group them, can I then position the whole group, using ...
