Re: Different pad diameters for each side of the PCB.
I was a field engineer for Calma, servicing DEC and Date General Mini's to digitize taped layouts to disk then editing and producing new PCB's with the mini computers. The first 4 bit chip had just been released, bought a kit with LED's and 10 key and started programing it. It took a few years but th...

Re: GPU for Diptrace running in Win10 Proxmox VM
A $6,000 GPU will make no difference.
Many 5Ghz CPU's will make a difference with DipTrace along with 2TB of NVMe and 64GB DDR5 memory.- 13 Oct 2023, 10:00

Check net connectivity on Example files
While testing my PC I found examples with pre-routed boards that show many errors when "Verification/Check net connectivity" is ran. The Banana_Pi.dip and arc_test.dip are the only ones that have no errors, that I have found. The arm.dip has no ground or power layer pours defines so of cou...

Re: Still having trouble with 3d preview
I think we all have gotten that error at one time or another, I'm glad it's fixed. I was having issues with a CAD/CAM application on a i5-9400 system or 4 year old system, I just finished building a 'current' i9-13900 system with last years Nvidia controller RTX-A4000, 4TB Samsung NVMe M.2 drives an...

Re: Printing PCB
I used the 'Calibration' option when printing to an inkjet printer direct to PCB (Epson CD writer with template, stopped doing this years ago) - but for test prints on my laser printers the default 1:1 setting work for all my HP and Data Products printers.

Re: Viewing 3D equivalent of a PCB on another PCB
I use the Export method: Open one board and view it in 3D then export it as *.STEP Open the second PCB and save it as a different name, right click the connector that mates the boards, select 3D Model, browse to the saved *.STEP file and place it where the original connector 3D model was. click OK t...
