Re: Selecting multiple items based on their properties

DipTrace devs: Please add a spreadsheet view, or some method, where I can (for example) sort and select all 97 of my 0.1u caps, and add our company part number (without hitting Ctrl-v 97 times)! DT won't get "big" unless bigger companies can use it efficiently. Thanks! From experience, I ...

Re: Feature request

Being able to override the pattern-based 3d model with a component-specific 3d model would be a good solution. As KevinA suggested, it's possible to override 3D Model in PCB Layout. However, IMHO, a good library is an integral part of a successful design and reuse. So, back to your example with LED...

Re: Feature request

Hi KevinA, I am not looking for full RDBM SQL "compliant" and a redesign of DipTrace, rather a streamlined way of managing the parts. Here is my original post discussing the details https://diptrace.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=27273#p27273 DipTrace links a component to footprint, so I don't ...

Re: Need advice to build a career with PCB layout design!

Hi Lakesha! Welcome to the forum I am not a full time PCB designer, but I can share my experience as an electronic engineer (EE) First, you need to ask yourself WHY? What gravitates you and interest you about PCB design? Maybe you are artistic, or a person who enjoys the design process and connectin...

Re: Feature request

I am not sure how pushing this on DipTrace would help. What if you have more than two 3D model for a given footprint, this is not something that should be managed in DipTrace. IMHO, it's much easier and logical to create another library part, both symbol and it's footprint where you can assign a dif...

Re: Off-sheet page number refernces?

you can certainly add NetName, but it's a manual process 1. right click on the net of interest -> Display Name 2A. You can follow the net on different sheets and right click -> Display Name (recommended) OR 2B. Once you displayed the net name the first time, you can select and copy then past it on o...

Awesome! Glad to help.
Thanks for the correction, Ctrl + G is to group and Ctrl + Alt + G to un-group
I have edited my answer above with correction

Re: Vss and Gnd Net conflict

@rovman you need to define the Power / Ground pins for short circuit. By default, it's V* and GND* . The * denotes a wildcard This is why Vss and GND are giving the Short Circuit error. This can be changed under Tool > Electrical Rule Setup I add "+" in front of power nets, makes it easier...

Re: First Diptrace design advice

hi clinthulk2 welcome to DipTrace 1) Press F10 and then move refdes where they need to be, press F10 again to exit this mode 2) compare schematic to layout will only tell you if the nets are matching, to check if all nets have been routed you need to run Net Connectivity check. note, if you have cop...

Re: Component Editor smart text refresh

@Tomg, I have also noticed this behaviour if I create a new component and a copy another's component pins / shapes / text etc... Changing any field in the new component fixes the smart text - The interesting part is that even when the library is saved, the text does not update. In schematic capture,...
