Moved pin from +3.3V to GND, now +3.3V seems shorted to GND

Had a pin on an 8-pin DIP which was connected to net name +3.3V (with a wire). Realized this was wrong so I deleted the line in schematic capture, leaving the pin with nothing connected. Then I connected it to GND. Voila, now +3.3V is connected to ground everywhere in my schematic. I saved it before...

Re: trouble adding connections to schematic, other weird stu

OK I feel silly but I think I understand what I am doing wrong. For some reason (don't ask me why I was doing this - perhaps some old habit), apparently this happens if I click-drag and release to make the final connection point. Only the last segment survives. So now I know I shouldn't click-drag w...

Re: trouble adding connections to schematic, other weird stu

Thanks for the tips. I got the VDD to GND short cleared up. As far as the wiring, I am still having an issue even with routing mode set to manual. Example shown below. Click 1 - attach to CAP Click 2 - make corner Click 3 - end connection on wire connecting to GND When I do "click 3", wiring mode co...

trouble adding connections to schematic, other weird stuff

1) Sometimes when I am entering a multiple bend connection, clicking to set each corner, when I finally double click or hit enter (not sure which), most of the line disappears and I have to enter it again. 2) The connection likes to do a little whoop-dee-doo when you connect e.g. down to a ground pi...

Re: Want to make new part from existing part, change the pat

Just wanted to let you know that I'm making progress. Going in multiple passes. Tweak patttern. Edit the schematic. Update the PCB. Double check the pattern. Find an actual part to order. Repeat until done.

Thanks,

DL

Re: Want to make new part from existing part, change the pat

Thanks, I will go through this carefully. At least I don't feel so stupid now - it's pretty complicated!

Re: Want to make new part from existing part, change the pat

OK, I'm still confused. Sure it's my fault, but anyway. I started with the audio jack component. The schematic component pattern is fine but I need to create/modify the PCB pattern. So I went in to change the attached pattern, as shown in jack-01.png. I picked a through hole pattern to replace the e...

Want to make new part from existing part, change the pattern

The full issue is: I have some existing schematic symbols but they don't have the right pattern. I can edit a pattern OK but having trouble taking the right steps. I've already started my schematic and layout and so I'd prefer to change them in place rather than starting a new component. I've tried ...
