Re: Question re Product Dim. vs. Recomm. Land Pattern

Thanks. In this case, since the Product Dimensions are within the boundaries of the Recommended Land Pattern, I will focus on the RLP. Your approach certainly makes sense in those situations where the component itself might extend horizontally beyond the RLP (or be very tall vertically).

Question re Product Dim. vs. Recomm. Land Pattern

I am creating the pattern for the following component: Bourns 4814P-1-331LF. This is a 7-resistor (isolated) network SMD component. The datasheet for this component provides both the "Product Dimensions" and the "Recommended Land Pattern." As I design the pattern in Diptrace, should the pattern conf...

Re: Understanding Autorouter

I thought that ratlines remain after autorouting because the autorouter was unable to figure out a way to fully route the PCB (i.e., it could not find any solution). The only ways I have found to solve this problem are (1) provide more space between components to enable the autorouter to find a solu...

Hole Properties

I inserted some holes for mounting my PCB with screws, but do not understand the purpose of the variable designated "Outer Diameter." I understand that the "Hole Diameter" is the diameter of the hole for the screw. What is the "Outer Diameter"? I cannot see it visually when I use the 3-D view -- the...

Re: LDR Circuit Symbol or Component

Thank you. So that I understand better, what is the purpose of a schematic symbol if there is no attached pattern? I understand that I could use it to create a schematic with Diptrace, but that will be of no use to me as I convert to a PCB, right?

Re: Any News on a new Release?

I understand that it takes time for new versions of Diptrace to come out, and that a new one will be out "soon." However, with respect to the components in the standard libraries, the Diptrace manual says at Section 5.2 that "we continuously expand them." Is there a way in Diptrace 3.2.0.1 (November...

LDR Circuit Symbol or Component

Does Diptrace provide a listing in its library for the component LDR (light dependent resistor), or even a symbol? I can't find it, but it seems like a fairly basic component so perhaps it's in there and I just don't know where to look.

Adding Bypass Capacitors

What is the best way to draw a Diptrace schematic so that ICs are provided with bypass capacitors? I have nets for "Power" and "Ground," and would like to add a small bypass capacitor between each IC's Vcc pin and Ground. However, once I connect Vcc to the Power net, I am unable to attach the bypass...

Thank you, but this response does not answer my question.
