Re: Automatically delete bypassed trace

I would suggest an option for "Do not clean redundant traces" instead. Sometimes you want redundant traces. For example, you may want to make a guard ring around an op-amp input or a crystal. DipTrace wouldn't know if you want to reroute an existing trace or make an intentional redundant trace. So i...

Re: Patterns for 7-segment displays

austfox, please don't regret it. Pattern for LED and display components are frequently asked here. It's a good thing someone starts a topic with actual patterns. Attached is a modified version of the original library. I added pattern for Lumex LDS-A516RI and Lite-On LSHD-5601 single-digit display. F...

Re: Patterns for 7-segment displays

Thanks for sharing. The STEP files seem to be missing. In DipTrace's default "Display" library, the refDes is "DS", not "SEG". Perhaps use the same refDes? For "1-Digit Standard 0.5"", it might be better to call it something like DIP-10/12.4x17.5. Different manufacturers have different dimensions fo...

Re: How much would something like this cost to manufacture in bulk quantities of 10?

You are better off buying the finished product (complete with a case) from https://greatscottgadgets.com/hackrf/ Generally the biggest obstacle of getting a PCB done is getting the components, not the PCB or the assembly. Some PCBA supplier will have stocks of surface-mount passive components (R, L,...

Re: Hide all unconnected via rings in layers

If you have a 4-layer board, you can remove the annular rings of signal vias in the inner layers. That way, you can have a large ground/power plane that is not broken up by signal vias.

Re: Pre-commitment questions

I'd recommend a standard, 1000pin version. I'm not a professional engineer, but I can easily do a layout with over 500 pins. 1) Yes. In component editor, in the "component properties" window, select "Patterns...". Then, in the "Attach Pattern" window, click on a pin, hold down the mouse button, and ...

Re: Pattern Editor Styles

When DipTrace saves a pattern, internally it would divide all dimension by 3, so 1.0000 would become 0.3333. When it loads the pattern, it would multiply the dimension by 3, so 0.3333 would become 0.9999. I don't know why the developer made that kind of decision. It could explains the discrepancy th...
