We can't reproduce the hangs. Please try to reset DipTrace registry. This will reset all DipTrace settings in registry to default. Close all DipTrace programs, open terminals and execute 'wine regedit'.
Delete 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Novarm' registry branch. Now you can start DipTrace again.

There is no option to make trace end squared. But you can place small square shape on trace end.

Net Ports are special type of components for Schematic only. They don't have attached patterns and thus don't have implementation in PCB Layout. Instead netports, you can use different components (connectors for example) in PCB Layout.
