Re: Shape Router makes unnecessary transitions from top to bottom

Changing Via Cost from Free to Standard reduces the via count from 43 to 15 while increasing Length of Traces from 777mm to 874mm. After reviewing the new layout for a few minutes, I spotted only one unnecessary transition from top to bottom. So, yes, I think changing via cost improved the PCB layou...

Re: Shape Router makes unnecessary transitions from top to bottom

Thanks Tomg for that advice. Route => Autorouter Setup => Settings did not have the Use Priority Layer Directions box checked. So I checked it and set Top and Bottom to Orthogonal. Changing the router configuration settings produces a different PCB routing but does not appear to affect the seemingly...

Shape Router makes unnecessary transitions from top to bottom

I've noticed when using the Shape Router that it makes transitions from top to bottom (or vice versa) when it is unnecessary. I'm using the default configuration settings for the Shape Router on two layer boards with a few dozen nets and a few hundred pins. Are these unnecessary back and forth trans...

Re: Number of pads doesn`t coincide . . .

Thanks Alex, but not necessary. Turns out S1 on the PCB layout was the wrong component. I had checked it multiple times and missed the fact that it was the wrong component. My fault, my apologies. Even though my problem is resolved, I would like insight to the error message: Number of pads doesn`t c...

Number of pads doesn`t coincide . . .

Verification => Compare to Schematic produces this error message: Number of pads doesn`t coincide in component "S1" S1 is a 3PDT toggle switch with nine connections. Pattern, component and schematic all have the nine connections. As does the PCB layout. S2 on the PCB is another instance of the same ...

Re: Gerber export

Not surprised it's been mentioned previously. I like the zip file option :)

Re: Routed Nets vs Net Connectivity check

Seems to me it is a tad confusing that File => Layout Information opens a window entitled "Design Information".

Shouldn't the menu item match the name of the window?

Gerber export

This question is about the steps involved in exporting Gerber files. File => Export => Gerber X2 brings up the Export Gerber X2 panel. I want to export all of the Gerber files and so click the Export All button. I expected that all of the Gerber files would be exported to the designated folder in on...

Re: Edge mount a DB25 connector

Are there some instructions somewhere as to how to use the "Insert image" function to embed screen capture image in a posting? I have an image on my desktop computer hard drive that I'd like to include in a posting. How do I use the "Insert image" function to embed the image in a posting? I tried in...
