Re: How to put the trademark symbol on silk layer

in charmap you don't just select the char, you have to double click on it, it should show in the small text box at the bottom of the window, and then you can click on copy button (Ctrl+C doesn't work). Double-checked everything, still not working, but since Alt+0176 works, I'm good. Probably just s...

Re: Placing symbols

Thanks for the info. The original thing that had me stopped was that I forgot to select a Truetype font. It's working OK now- although I still think it would be handy to have a drop down menu of all of the symbols.

Re: How to put the trademark symbol on silk layer

YES! That worked fine. Thank you for the suggestion. ...but it got me thinking- if your solution worked and Octal's didn't, what is different? I went back and checked, and if I call up the character map (CHARMAP), select the character, copy and then use alt+V to paste it, I get garbage, but if I typ...

Re: Voltage and Amps Over Traces and Pours

Duplicate the traces on the other side of the board. That will help a lot.
If that's still not enough, don't put solder mask over the traces and order the board finish as HASL (hot air solder leveling). The extra solder over the traces will beef it up even more.

Re: How to put the trademark symbol on silk layer

Yep - I did read your message carefully, and I did select Arial font both in the character map and in Diptrace, but no joy.

Probably just something weird about my computer.

Placing symbols

I recently posted a question about placing the registered trademark symbol ("R" in a circle) on the silkscreen layer: https://diptrace.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=13214 Although there is a way to do this it's not very straightforward. Diptrace makes it easy to insert shapes, text, or pictures on a...

Re: How to put the trademark symbol on silk layer

Hi Tom-
I appreciate the solution (and even the .ASC upload!!!). That worked fine and has solved the problem.
Now I'm going to have to add something to my wish list for Diptrace- I addition to place shape, text, and picture, I'd like to have a SYMBOL option.

Thanks for the solution!

Re: How to put the trademark symbol on silk layer

Hi Octal-
Good to hear from you. It's been a LONG time...
Thanks for the suggestion, but I can't get it to work. I carefully followed your instructions, but when I do Ctrl-V I always get a dash instead of the symbol I copied. don't know what's wrong. I'll fiddle with it more tomorrow.

Re: How to put the trademark symbol on silk layer

Thanks. That is the "workaround" that I am using. Surely there is a way to place a symbol without having to make a graphic file first.
