Re: 3D render VERY slow for one particular board

Thanks, Tom- Rather than delete the components one at a time (there are more than 200 of them), I sorted to STEP files in my user directory by size, and was surprised to find three files that are unnecessarily large: A C&K KSL series tact switch, Coilcraft SER2918 inductor, and a Panasonic EEC serie...

Re: 3D render VERY slow for one particular board

By the way, when I first click on "3D", I see the usual status messages that pop up in the area where the 3D image will appear, but after a few seconds the messages go away and the area where the images appear will be totally blank for 1 or 2 minutes at a time. Is that a clue?

3D render VERY slow for one particular board

3D rendering works great for almost all of the boards I've done- except for one. This board is not huge- it measures 225mm x 171mm and has 228 components on it. For most of the layouts I do the 3D render takes only a few seconds, but this one takes more than 5 minutes. Once it is rendered it is VERY...

Re: Fetch a part in PCB layout

Thanks Friesen- that would also be a good way to do it.

For the lucky people who have a hugely powerful computer, drag and drop is fine- but when you've got an underpowered machine and you're working on a really big layout, all that panning takes forever.

Re: Fetch a part in PCB layout

Having this feature would have saved me a couple of hours over the last few days. Any chance of considering it?

Thanks!

Re: Changing pads to vias (is it necessary?)

Hi Jmuise- I think you're saying that your components are through hole. If that's the case, there probably no need to do anything since the pads will be "plated through" so they connect both sides of the PCB. If the components are surface mounted, then you can place a via close to a pad that needs t...

Lock aspect ratio of imported graphic

I'd like to have the ability to lock the aspect ratio of imported graphics. When I put my company logo on the silkscreen of a PCB I have to tinker with it until it looks right. Could we have a checkbox that says "maintain aspect ratio"? Aside from that, life's good! Thanks for your consideration. -R...

Lock aspect ratio of image

Is there a way to lock the aspect ratio of an imported image to be placed on the silkscreen layer?

Thanks!

Add manufacturers to "ORDER PCB"

I'm happy to see that PCBway has been added to the "order PCB" function in PCB layout. Any chance of adding more suppliers? We've been very happy with www.allpcb.com. Their pricing is usually lower than PCBway, the quality is great, and the turnaround is fast. I am not associated with them in any wa...
