renew vs update - Manufacturer property

Try the following exercise to see a Renew vs Update inconsistency for the Manufacturer property in the PCB Layout editor... 1) Place a custom component that uses a generic pattern into a new schematic. By generic pattern I mean a pattern that has no name specified for the " Manufacturer " property (...

Re: Cap and Res Naming Convention?

The short answer - component density levels as dictated by the amount of land pattern protrusion: L east, N ominal & M ost . " L east " is capable of allowing the highest component density at the possible cost of mechanical durability, and " M ost " is capable of allowing more durable mechanical con...

pin numbers move during update

Interesting pin number behavior in the Schematic Editor ( v4.0.0.5 ) can be observed by going through the following exercise... 1) Start a new schematic, place the standard DipTrace component named " 2N2218 " from the " Transistors NPN " library into the Design Area without rotating it, make sure to...

Many times I find myself wanting to toggle between only two grid sizes that happen to be a good distance apart in my custom grid size table, which sometimes requires several " Ctrl " " + " or " Ctrl " " - " hotkey hits to get wher...

Re: Deleting dotted line

Dotted lines between pads on a component show internal connections that were created using the Component Editor . To me, these are not ratlines even though deselecting [ ]Ratlines in the Objects panel will hide them. If you right-click on one of the internally-connected pads you will see a selection...

Re: Verification doesn't spot unrouted traces???

Beats me. Maybe you should let Alex or Serg know about this in the bug forum. The autorouter could definitely use some more attention after they have completed their long-promised "push & shove" manual routing feature.

Re: Verification doesn't spot unrouted traces???

Grab the trace with your mouse and slide it off of the via. If it was actually tied to the via, you wouldn't be able to separate the two objects without deleting a segment or two.
