Re: New Computer, new install and library transfer

I put everything in folders on D: and totally back up D: (also allows reformat C: without loosing my own work) You can put DipTrace Libraries and Projects anywhere you want. We keep shared libraries on a server, bit slower to access but overall usually not a problem. You can select a "libraries fold...

Re: Library Loader

Personally I copy anything I use to a personal library that I backup with the project, so all parts easily available in case the design needs to be modified in the future.
This also allows me to modify the library part without messing with the main libraries.

Lost Picture

How can I find/see/delete a picture object on a schematic when the matching dchb0 file has been deleted? (otherwise dummy dchb0 keeps getting created) I wrongly deleted the dchb0 file holding the picture for a schematic. Each time I save the schematic a dummy dchb0 is created for the missing picture...

Re: Where is the best place made to PCB board?

I've used both APC (Alberta Printer Circuits) and PCBWay with success.
Both have deals for low quantity quick turn.

Re: Relating Component Side/Foil Side to Layers 1&2

Its a choice. Some designs I put thru-hole on top, others on bottom. I tend to think of top and bottom for when the board is installed. Historic from wave soldering: Thru-hole on top, SMT on bottom (glued on), wave across the bottom. With Reflow the SMT can be top, bottom, or both. Thru-hole typical...

Re: New versus old tecnhiques

Copper Pour: - Typically these days the whole layer is flooded with Gnd or Vcc to act as a Noise shield, reducing both emitted and received EMC (RFI/EMI...) - For a Gnd flood, insert a copper pour: Objects, Place Copper Pour, draw the outline just inside the board edge. (You can insert/delete/move p...

Re: Can I add traces to mounting holes?

You can define a Part that is a single pad with a large hole in it. Careful: You shouldn't use mechanical points for electrical, the mechanical stress can lead to unreliable electrical connections over time. Possibly you are using the mounting point as a Frame Ground connection, this is sort of OK b...

Drill to PAD Clearance

I have "TopDown" LEDs that have a drill hole between the pads for the light to shine through. The hole is of course very close to the pads, but is manufactured and assembled fine by PCB supplier. but... Every time I run Verification all the LEDs are flagged as errors with drills too close to pads. T...

How to have Refdes without Hierarchy Block Number

In PCB Layout is there a way to turn off the block number extension in the RefDes to save space in my tight layout?
i.e. "R2" instead of "R2_3" (for this design all R2 populated same so don't need Block Number)

Re: Hierarchy copy only some copper pours

A bit more testing shows the copying of the copper pour isn't related to the circuit, but instead to the "extents" of the Hierarchy block in the layout - Extents shown when you select the block under "Routed" - Block must have at least one trace to show under "Routed" That is anything within the rec...
