Manufacturing data for PCB

#1 Post by Bally123 » 16 Jan 2019, 02:27

Hi All

Is there a way to specify data for manufacturing alongside exporting Gerbers, for things like:

PCB thickness, silk screen colors, Solder mask properites, Copper weight, UL mark, Profile and hole tolerances, Punched or routed etc...

Thanks

That's what Top Assembly layer is for

For layer information:
  1. Select the Route > Layer Setup... menu
  2. Select the Layer Stackup... button in the dialog window
  3. Select the Place Table... button in the dialog window
  4. Set Layer to "Top Assembly". Select the Place button in the dialog window
For other things, you have to type everything manually.

It is important to designers and manufacturers to be able to easily communicate about the requirements of a specific printed circuit board project. Benefits of the industry adopting a singular standard for PCB files include:

No data or instructions lost when converting formats
Less consultation effort with customers (resource savings)
More detailed data exchange between CAD and CAM

Diwang has replied very well. I think the most import area is Select the Place Table... button in the dialog window
Set Layer to "Top Assembly" and Select the Place button in the dialog window

Amusing, the table was 10 times the size of my PCB. I exported ODB++, it has all that information, but I can't find a board shop that supports ODB++ that I can afford. The PCB information is what the PCB manufacture has listed, standard for the PCB manufacture, it is not something I'd be likely to 'spec' as the price goes up...
