DipTrace overview & tutorial

#1 Post by jokkebk » 28 May 2012, 08:27

Hi all,

(tried initially post this to the news section but that seems to be for Novarm official posts only :)

I just finished a short tutorial outlining the design of a AVR ATtiny2313 breadboard header schematic using DipTrace. I also covered the creation of a simple custom library pattern and component for a ISP programming header:

http://codeandlife.com/2012/05/28/attin ... -diptrace/

All three parts are also available as separate Youtube videos:

http://youtu.be/W1PiSYfVMZw (Schematic capture)
http://youtu.be/Yr8eQt_JjNI (Pattern editor)
http://youtu.be/ohTFYehq9Ig (Component editor)

The tutorial and videos can be freely linked by Novarm in case you find the material useful. I'm also going to do a second part of the tutorial that covers PCB layout from the schematic (with great pictures of the final PCB from Olimex, populated with components).

Why did you not add sound to the clip? With sound the clips would be more interesting. Anyway thanks.

I remember an old suggestion to take your tip out of the soldering iron, heat it up with a torch, and apply silver solder to it. The idea is that the silver will not corrode, and the silver melting point is much higher than regular solder, so it won't come off. Silver is also a better heat conductor.

Has anyone tried this?

WoW I sure see a lot of dead threads on this Forum. I to would like to see the results of the Silver solder trick.
