New Release 3.x or 4.0?

#1 Post by pedro10vitor » 29 May 2018, 11:16

Hi there, I have been working with Diptrace for the last one year, working on my graduation project, but I have hit the pin limit offered by Diptrace, so I would like to know is the next update will be a 3.x version or 4.0. If it will be 3.x does Diptrace have any ideia to when it will release the 4.0? I will buy the Diptrace but it would hurt to buy now and in one month a new version is released.

We don't plan to release version 4.0 in near future. The next version will be 3.x.
We provided free update for all users who purchased DipTrace during 6 months before major update (from 2.x to 3.0). We will do it for the next major update too.

What determines going for a new release version instead of just an update?

That's really a good decision that user who will buy before 6 month of next update will also given a free update. I really like the free update offer.

Currently work on 4.0 is in process (stage 4 of 4, 3 modules already completed). There is big redesign of DipTrace core to support all IPC-7351 features without work-arounds + related long-waiting features. Unfortunately this is really huge amount of qualified work and we have limited resources, however this should also provide easier further development by avoiding work-arounds.

Push and Shove is paused yet, we had some progress (it already works on simple traces and T-connections), but then IPC generator developer + library and marketing depts said IPC-7351 compatibility is needed in the core asap, because last 3 years they developed libraries for IPC-7351 and we were unable to publish them without in-depth support of such patterns. So I had decided to pause push and shove and add IPC-7351 support to allow them continue their work and add modern libraries to the software, thinking it should be a few months of development... but it is already almost a year :( . However at the moment it is almost completed and then I will continue push and shove.

When is it "safe" to buy a license in order to receive the 4.x update without any additional costs?

Thanks for the update ... very appreciated. So, is there a specific time in mind for releasing version 4.0?
