Insight into BAC/Diptrace Order Process

#1 Post by BayAreaCircuits » 18 Feb 2015, 05:28

Based on questions we sometimes receive via email, we thought it might be useful to share some information regarding the order process.

Let's assume you've designed a PCB with Diptrace and are ready to submit your PCB to Bay Area Circuits (BAC) for manufacturing. You select "Order PCB" from the File menu, enter your desired quantity, turn time and address and select "Place Order". What's next?

First, you'll need to confirm the order by making payment via the web interface that will display. We will not proceed with the order until payment has been received (so there is also no need to contact us to cancel the order if you decide to do so prior to completing payment).

Once payment has been received, we will retrieve your design files (no need to email them to us) and will load them into our Ucamco Integrator software to confirm we have the necessary information for manufacturing. If anything obvious is missing we will contact you before proceeding. As an individual user, you are also able to independently run the same DFM check we will run by using our online tool available at http://instantdfm.bayareacircuits.com/. Why would you want to do this if you've already run the DRCs in Diptrace? It's just another way to confirm that your data is complete and conforms to our manufacturer-specific design rules.

After we have received payment and have confirmed your data is complete we will transfer your order into our internal system and you will receive an automated email with a PDF order confirmation. This is your proof that your order has been processed and is beginning production.

Finally, once your order has been completed we will ship your order and you will receive an automated email with a PDF invoice attached. The invoice will include any available tracking information. Note - If you do not wish to use one of the available USPS options for shipping, include a note with your order as to what you prefer. For example, if you would like us to ship UPS Next Day Air on your account number, please leave this information in the comments and we will do our best to accommodate you. We ship daily with USPS, FedEx and UPS, although UPS is our preferred carrier.

That's it! If there are any questions regarding the order process please let us know and we'll be glad to answer them.
