Can't open DipTrace 4.2 FreeWare on W11 Home 64-bit.
Can't open DipTrace 4.2 FreeWare on W11 Home 64-bit.
Hi All,
I'm not able to run DipTrace. It is only able to run one single time after the installer completes.
I'm running Windows 11 Home 64-bit (10.0, Build 22000) with DipTrace 4.2 FreeWare.
Opening Launcher:
C:\DipTrace\Launcher.exe
Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.
Opening Schematic:
Application Error
Exception EAccessViolation in module Schematic.exe at 0000000000A728EC. Access violation at address 0000000000E728EC in module 'Schematic.exe'. Read of address 00000000000000000.
Opening Component Editor:
Error
Runtime error 231 at 0000000000410E57
Opening Pcb:
Application Error
Exception EAccessViolation in module Pcb.exe at 00000000013844AC. Access violation at address 00000000017844AC in module 'Pcb.exe'. Read of address 00000000000000000.
I've tried to install it under 'C:\' and 'C:\Program Files' but still the same problem.
Somebody that knows a solution I can try?

Please reinstall DipTrace from administrator account. Also we recommend to disable antivirus at the time of installation. For users of French Windows we recommend to install DipTrace to non-system drive or custom folder on system drive ( not Program Files. Documents, etc).
Let me know if you still can't start DipTrace programs.

DipTrace behaves the same after disabling 'Windows Security' (other virusscanners not present) and running the installer as Administrator. I'm the only user at the computer, local administrator. I've installed Windows 11 English international, it's a fresh install from dec 2021 that is fully up-to-date.Alex wrote: ↑28 Feb 2022, 04:56 Please reinstall DipTrace from administrator account. I only have a SSD. But I tried something fast, installing it on an USB-stick, that seems to work. Somehow when I install it under C:\ it is messing up the permissions.

Re: Can't open DipTrace 4.2 FreeWare on W11 Home 64-bit.
It looks like the problem with rights and permissions. Instead using DipTrace launcher please right click on corresponding exe files from DipTrace folder and run them as administator.
Re: Can't open DipTrace 4.2 FreeWare on W11 Home 64-bit.
Running it as Administrator and also installed it as Administrator makes zero difference. It only works when it is not installed on the C:/.
Re: Can't open DipTrace 4.2 FreeWare on W11 Home 64-bit.
The only time I've seen behavior like that is when a jerk changed the rights to the C:\Program Files\Diptrace directory in Properties/Security and removed all execute rights...
You can do that in Linux in a heart beat, chmod -R does everything BUT on windows 11 with WSL2q installed you can run bash then use chmod but chmod does not change a files execute rights in the windows file system. Is your UAC setup? does other applications work?
Re: Can't open DipTrace 4.2 FreeWare on W11 Home 64-bit.
Every other program (so no diptrace) works just fine.
I stopped putting effort into DipTrace, but today I wanted to give it yet another try.
Installing it on Windows 10 Pro X64, same behavior as my problem on Windows 11 Home X64.
Installing DipTrace 4.2 FreeWare X64 gives the exact same problems.
Installing DipTrace 4.3 Beta FreeWare X64 gives the exact same problems.
Installing DipTrace 4.2 FreeWare X86 gives the exact same problems.
It are completely different computers.

Hi,
I have this same problem.
I reinstalled my V3.1 to WIN7 64bit PC and have the exact same symptoms. Did you ever find a solution to this problem?
Jeff
