Schematic Print thickness is thin !

#1 Post by clickshe » 21 Mar 2017, 05:13

Hello
I tried to print schematics, but the thickness is very thin !
Yes, I know that i can increase the thickness from View/Line Width, but if I increase from there:
1 - the component symbols will remain thin
2- the line width will be fat.

Do not tell me that I have to change the thickness to all symbols, because it would be absurd !
Comparing the DipTrace prints with those made with other similar software, those of DipTrace
have a very ugly appearance, and, above all, they are very difficult to read in detail.

Is there a solution that I missed?
Thank you for reading.

Schematic Print thickness is too thin!

#2 Post by AO2001 » 15 May 2020, 22:33

My first Schematic print came out with hair-thin lines. It was useless, then after checking the menus I figured out the solution:

Load the schematics file

select all; CTRL-A

use the menu bar; Objects>Drawing Properties>Line Width>
here, a size is seen in the box. It was 0.12 in my drawing (too thin!!!). I changed it to 0.33 and hit enter.
then I printed the schematic using printer features (Inkjet printer!):
black ink only
best quality
and the results were very good.

The procedure can be modified; objects selected, different line thicknesses, printer settings etc.

The post was from 2017 and hopefully the problem has been solved already.

Unfortunately nothing was resolved.
Really ridiculous.

Schematics printed on paper are illegible.
Amazing that no one is complaining.

It's not a question of having the eyesight of a cat, just make comparisons with the printouts of other software, clear, good-looking and readable at a glance, to see the obvious differences.
But the problem is not being like the others.
The problem is that here the printouts cannot be read!
The component's pin numbers and names are incomprehensible and tiny.

This is a problem that should never have existed, not even in the alpha versions of 15 years ago!
PS: Luckily I still have 10/10 vision.

I have never had a problem printing legible schematics on either my inkjet or laser printers or to an adobe .pdf file.
Can you post an example of what you see that is problematic?
What O/S and printer are you using?
What version of DipTrace?
.
FYI here are the settings I have in the schematic editor. 10mils on a 600dpi printer is 6 pixels, more than adequate.

I also have never had a problem printing legible schematics. Additionally, I print the board on 3M transparency for exposing FR4 (w/photo resist) and make one off prototypes. usually double sided. All laser printers are HP. Adobe also has zero issues.

When seeking help, additional details may clarify the problem(s), printer, O/S/DT Ver, etc.
