Working with hierarchy

#1 Post by zsalloum » 27 Sep 2011, 12:27

Hi,

i think there is no way to view the design in schematic with all the refdef refering to hierarchical block. there no way to rename from layout and back to annotate to shematic also... i've tried it :)
Is there anyway to transform an hierarchy design to a "flat" design by copying all the related hierarchy blocks to different pages and then cretate all the necessary links?

It will require a lot of manual work after you copy all related hierarchical blocks to different pages. Renewing layout from schematic by components will not work correctly because new components will have different hidden IDs. Therefore you will need to manually synchronize all reference designators to be able to use renewing layout by RefDes.

Good day!

Is there an opportunity to make the "flat" schematic (with all components) from hierarchical, in latest version of programme?

You can replace every hierarchical block with corresponding portion of schematic manually. But you should verify schematic thoroughly after that.

Hmm, it's bad. It practically kills the meaning of use of hierarchical blocks.

You can convert hierarchical schematic to PCB, update board from hierarchical schematic, etc., so why do you need the flat schematic? Benefits of hierarchical schematic are simpler and more readable schematic, ability to copy placement and routing of identical blocks in PCB Layout.

If I am preparing full documentation set for device, "flat" schematic is necessary.

Understood. As I said, conversion hierarchical to flat schematic on fly is not possible.
