Also what are the Hot keys to draw a straight horizontal or perpendicular lines?

Lines instead dots are not possible.
"Shift" hot key helps to create horizontal or vertical line.

It may be Difficult but not impossible! ;)
Is there a software tweak that can be used to make solid-lines instead of dots for grid ?

Nothing impossible. :) I wanted to say there is no way to change dots to lines in current version.

May be...
Could you please tell me in what language(C, VB, VC, C# etc...) the Diptrace software is made?

DipTrace is written in Delphi.

No news on the grid lines instead of the points?
As the pixels get smaller and smaller on the screens, the dots become less and less noticeable.
It's time to allow lines or bigger points for the grid.

Grid nearly invisible

#8 Post by dippel59 » 17 Mar 2021, 23:04

Hello,

I'm using DipTrace (freeware) on a Win10 computer with 4K display.
The grid is nearly invisible!!!

So I want to endorse the wish for "bigger" points or for lines instead of points.

Thank you
Jürgen

Hello
I would like to echo Jürgen comment :
The grid in 4K is nearly *INVISIBLE* making it useless
We need a setting to increase the dot size or switch to lines

Thank you
Yossa

In my CAD application I can make the grid anything I want but it is a CAD drawing package, DT is a program designed to place things on a grid and with the grid setup properly I don't need to "see" the grid since the object I'm placing snaps to the grid. Getting use to working with the constraints PCB manufactures have forces the designers to be creative as in making a round pad an oval for trace clearance, clearance that we can calculate based on the grid spacing.

That being said I have four monitors, 50" 4K, 28" 4K, 27" 1080, 14" 720, the 28"4K monitor is the only one I have issues with seeing the grid, I spent some time playing with the monitors adjustments (Always wondered why HDR was not seen by my computer, it has to be turned on in the monitor setting) and did get the grid (Black background, white dots) to show finally. If anything I'd like to see the Grid size drop down split into three drop downs with one active at a time and each as mm/inch/mil - but that can wait until after Push & Shove gets here.... if ever
