Remove 3D model from specific component on one design

#1 Post by gunrunnerjohn » 01 Oct 2016, 09:56

I have a design that I have a couple of headers specified. I'm actually just soldering wires to those points, so for the 3D display for this board, I'd like the bare holes to show up. I can't seem to remove the 3D header from just this particular PCB layout. Am I missing something, or is that not possible?

1) In the PCB Layout editor, right-click on the desired component and select 3D Model... in the pop-up menu.
2) In the 3D Model dialog window, enable the option [x] Turn Off Automatic Search, clear the 3D Model File text box, click on the [Load Model] button and select OK.

Is there a way to permanently disable it for a part, or do I create a new part?

I think you will have to create a new part. You might want to assign a blank STEP file to it if only to keep the 3D Preview tool warnings to a minimum.
