trace snapping to part

is there a way to keep a trace from snapping to center of a part's pad once it gets close?
i want the trace to stay where i put it.

As long as the trace is fully contacting the pad, your PCB should print fine. However, when the trace isn't completely connected to the pad's origin a ratline may remain to indicate incomplete routing. See the attached video showing how to accomplish what I think you are looking for. Just make sure the grid size is small enough and remember to place the free end of the trace with the [Return] key.
