Rigid-Flex PCB

#1 Post by Edgaras006 » 21 Apr 2018, 00:17

Hello,

I am designing rigid-flex PCB. Flex part is glued to the bottom of the rigid part. I need two top layers (one for rigid PCB, one for flex PCB) and one bottom layer (for flex PCB). Does DipTrace have an option to enable two top layers?

Thanks.

DipTrace doesn't have the special feature for this.

I also tried this before, i think there is no such options.

It has been more than 2 years now. Does Diptrace support rigid-flex PCBs now?

Good question so I looked;
Teardrops YES
Finite Element Modeling of Flex Circuits NOPE
High Speed Differential Impedance Real Time Analyst of Flex Circuits NOPE
Rigid-Flex stack NOPE
This link defines what a Rigid-Flex CAD package needs but at a price >5 times DT: https://www.altium.com/rigid-flex-circu ... uit-design (From a company I'll never do business with again)

While looking into 'flex circuit boards' I found http://pcb3d.com/uploads/Flex_Design_Guidelines.pdf which touches on many of the issues that are inherent to flex PCB. While many PCB manufactures are building flex boards the cost is like HDI boards with added complexities of flexible bendable materials. For those that design portable (phones) electronics this technology along with HDI is a given.
