Easier way to replace footprints in layout mode?

#1 Post by crunchytheory » 06 Jul 2013, 13:22

There's the nice browsing list on the left of the screen to place new footprints. But as far as I can tell, you can't use this to replace the pattern for footprints that have already been placed.

Is the only way to replace current patterns to right-click on the footprint and replace from a library search? Where are the footprint/pattern libraries located? The default directory only seems to show the component libraries and not the pattern libraries, like "BGA".

The footprint libraries are .lib files in the program files folder under DipTrace.

Thankfully most parts have short enough names to quickly type into the search box. We use long, structured names for footprints at work. Unfortunately, they become un-readable and difficult to read.
