Making a Library in DIPtrace

#1 Post by 3Faze » 27 Jul 2021, 04:52

Hi,
Please advise if the following is the correct way to do a library of components with footprints.
1....Open "component editor"
2....Select "other libraries"
3....Go "New library"
4......in dialog box, name it "ALIB"
5.....Then draw component with its pins.
6....Then save it.....but strangely you cannot save it to "ALIB"....you have to call it something else...dont know why?....i called it ALIB_1

I then did the same as above but in the Pattern Editor....calling the libraries BLIB and BLIB_1

..i then went back to the ALIB, and click "pattern"....and then just click the BLIB_1 library and match up the pattern with the component.

Thats it.

Is this the correct way?

You cannot save component or pattern library with the same name if the library is already opened in another window. Otherwise you should be able to save it.
Also you should save custom libraries to any folder except the folder with standard libraries.
