Export to Altium

#1 Post by dmac » 12 Feb 2023, 01:03

Hi,
I would like to design a subcircuit with Diptrace that will be imported to Altium and incorporated into a larger Altium board.
Is this possible? Will the schematic and copper and libraries be interactive in Altium after import as a native Altium schematic and board or will the import be static?

Basically designing a subcircuit for a commercial project that will be completed in Altium, and worried about maintenance going forward.

Thx

Go ask Protel/Altium to publish an API to their library format.

For years we have been asking for a universal export/import format (like dxf) for PCB software but it has never happened.
ODB++ then IPC-2581 looked promising but have not been adapted by the PCB vendors. Protel/Altium can export IPC-2581(a or b) but not the C version, they do not support import of IPC-2581
