installation issue

hello all!

ive been a diptrace user for many many years - but i have come across a problem.

I got a new computer (win7 ent.) and installing diptrace onto it. Install has no issues, and pcb layout and pattern editor works fine, but schematic and component editor are missing. neither item was installed.

I have re-installed this 4 times now, each time with the same issue - i am installing 2.4 (fresh download from diptrace website) so i can get things up and running exactly like it was on my old computer, then i intend to upgrade to 3.0.

please help, i need to get this running asap.

Howdy!

Not sure how a review article is going to help in this case - i read the whole thing and there is nothing in there about this specific problem.

again, i have been using diptrace already for many many years, i love it. i have installed it on several 6 different computers over the years with no issues ever until yesterday. the two items that do install work fine (pcb and part editor) but schematic and component editor do not install with it - they are just missing.

any ideas of what to try next?

Could the DipTrace installation file be corrupted? Have you tried downloading it again?

Check the DipTrace installation directory to see if the files are there. In Windows 7 I think it will be either C:\Program Files\DipTrace or C:\Program Files(x86)\DipTrace if you installed the 32 bit version.

The files you are looking for are:
CompEdit.exe - Component Editor
PattEdit.exe - Pattern Editor
Pcb.exe - PCB Editor
Schematic.exe - Schematic Editor

and if all else fails:
Launcher.exe

I use Windows 10 but your file list should look similar:

i have downloaded it from diptrace website 3 times.

each time the installation is done (sucessfully each time) the only exe files are:

pcb.exe and pattedit.exe


these files are missing:

schematic.exe and compedit.exe

Is Launcher.exe present in the installation directory?

yes, sorry, forgot to put that in there - yes launcher.exe is present

What happens if you run launcher.exe and then select Schematic or Component Editor from within the launcher app?

Please disable antivirus temporary and reinstall DipTrace. Add exe files from DipTrace folder to exception list in antivirus setup and enable antivirus. Try to start all programs.

nice catch Alex!! nothing like overly picky corporate security - problem is not fixed yet, but i have confirmation that the two missing .exe files are in fact being blocked by security - why those two and not the others i have no idea!?!

so, as soon as corporate iT releases those, i should be in business!
