macOS 12 Diptrace 4.2.0.1 very laggy
macOS 12 Diptrace 4.2.0.1 very laggy
Hi there,
Using the mac version (.dmg), the graphics are very slow, and with bigger schematics / pcb it makes it impossible to work! I tried installing the windows x64 version (with wine) which runs very smooth, however the "Place Component Toolbar" is hidden behind the sheet. choosing windows GDI as graphics mode makes it re-appear, but the performance is again really bad. I may have to add that I am on a new MacBook Pro 2021 with the M1 Pro.
Thanks for your support

Installing Windows version on Mac OS under Wine is not good idea. Hidden "Place Component Toolbar" is the result because we did some customizations for Mac version that are not available in Windows version, of course.
We recommend to install Mac version and find reason of very slow graphics. You can try different graphics mode in 2D ( View -> Graphics Mode) and in 3D ( Tools -> 3D Preview -> Graphics Mode). Choose modes that work fastest for your machine ( they can be different in 2D and 3D). If that doesn't help, please provide some details about schematic/pcb complexity and operations you do when software response is not comfortable.

Whichever graphics mode I choose, zooming in/out, moving parts, basically everything is very sluggish and feels like on a machine from 1990
A project I am working on currently has around 450 Parts. I tried reproducing the problem with a new schematic, and after 80-100 parts the lagging begins.
I have been working a some time now with my own wine installation (where I have no issues with performance) - but as written above some menus are not showing which is quite unfortunate. Also it seems some features (like the auto-router) don't work on my custom installation.

Thank you for additional information. We confirm that Mac version starts to freeze on complex boards but it depends more on design area than number of components. We are investigating the issue and what we can do to solve it.

Great, thanks a lot!!!

Apple sent us basically the most powerful Mac Studio money can buy, with the 20-core M1 Ultra, a 64-core GPU, and 128GB of unified memory. If you want to buy this, it’ll cost $6,199. (You can push that price up to $7,999 by adding up to 8TB of internal storage, but it doesn’t get any more powerful than this.) Verge
I 'customized' one, $6.799.00, they do take trade ins.
Nvidia is beating the Ultra to death, if gaming (high speed graphics) is your thing, of course you could always purchase a HP portable with Windows 11 to run DT, for the price on one monthly payment on the Ultra.

Any news?
Re: macOS 12 Diptrace 4.2.0.1 very laggy
We expect some improvements in upcoming version 4.3 that should make Mac version faster.

Any updates on this? I tried 4.3.0.1 today, and the performance seems identical to 4.2.0.1 - basically unusably slow.
I'm on a M1 MacBook Air, which absolutely flies with any other software.
The Windows GDI graphics mode seems to be be best of the three. Direct3D isn't any faster and gives rendering glitches when zooming, and OpenGL doesn't seem to render at all.
