[Solved] Issue with Launcher and shortcuts (64bit)

#1 Post by RDC » 08 Jan 2013, 08:37

I recently installed Win7 x64 here (all up to date) and have installed the latest 64bit version of DipTrace (Standard), but the Launcher doesn't work at all. It comes up, but nothing launches from it when clicked on, and neither do any of the Tool 'shortcuts' from inside any of the apps. Just the Launcher not working I can deal with, but the shortcuts not working from inside the program is awful, as when I go to edit a Library nothing happens since the shortcut doesn't work.

Is this an issue with the 64bit DipTrace? or some stupid Win7 setting I've overlooked causing it?

Then you're either not on the same Win7 x64 (Pro with SP1), same DipTrace version (2.3.0.1, Standard) or have some setting in Win7 that's different from mine, that's what I'm trying to find out here, not who's works and who's doesn't, but why mine doesn't. If this were a more common issue I'm sure it would have been brought up before, since launching the application is kind of an important step in using it.

Solved.

I had to reinstall Win7, tried DipTrace straight away and it worked fine. Installed the Intellnet app and drivers for my wireless card, so I could get back online for updates and such. Tried DT right after that, since I was going one app at a time until I found what was causing it, and bam, that's what was killing it. Tried uninstalling it, but whatever it does it jacks it up good and doesn't resolve after an uninstall. Had to reinstall Win7 again and just left that Intellnet app out and installed only the drivers and it's been good to go since then.

i seem to be having some similar situation....

everytime i install diptrace 64 bit version, on the install it keeps popping up with the x86 install directory. when i set it to the appropriate directory it still installs the 32 bit files?? everything runs 32 bit..

Has anyone come across this, know anyway to fix this!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

DipTrace is 32-bit software. But 64-bit installer is needed to install DipTrace on 64-bit systems. It installs DipTrace to C:\Program Files\DipTrace folder.

Anyway, did you install DipTrace, does it work?

Thanks alex for the quick reply! Yes I have went ahead with the install and all is and was fine. I was just worried and mainly expecting an 64 bit program.

So whith all that said, the 64 bit program is suppose to run as a32 bit process?! Seems strange...

Ps. I posted here because you prompted a question on this post. If that was wrong, my bad. I fully intended to use the other thread I made, but as you can see, I didn't. Lol

I have installed DipTrace to the D: drive as my C: is a small SSD drive
and I will run out of space quickly if everything went into "Program Files".

So as to the debate of where it is "proper" to install programs my vote
goes to "anywhere". DipTrace works just fine from "anywhere".

Just my two cents.
