Rotate component ref designation won't work in Windows 8

#1 Post by glenlivet » 13 May 2015, 17:16

I just purchased a new Toshiba Laptop with Windows 8. What a miserable piece of shit! (WINDOWS 8 that is- Not the laptop) What I discovered is that after I highlight a component and press F10 to move and/or rotate a component reference designation I can move the component ref. designation by clicking and dragging with the mouse but pressing the space bar or pressing the "R" key does not rotate the component ref. designation. So while I continue to pull out my hair trying to figure out why the F10 commands worked perfectly on my old computer running Vista but not in Windows 8, has anyone else had this problem? Is there a workaround?

Perhaps it's finally time to ditch Micro$haft and make the jump to Linux!

DipTrace should work on Windows 8 as well as on other Windows. To rotate a RefDes, press F10, select RefDes and hold it with left mouse buttom, press R or Space then release LMB.

I'll bet you dollars to donuts that the function keys are set to do all the stupid "special" functions, like changing the volume. Somewhere on your laptop will be a key labelled something like "Fn". Hold that down when you press F10. On my own laptop, I switched the function keys back to normal function keys, and I have to hold down "Fn" to do the sound/contrast/sleep/etc functions.
