12v Buck Regulator (MCP16331)

#1 Post by fastbike » 18 Nov 2022, 17:11

I've just completed building a 12v output buck regulator board based on the MCP16331 from Microchip.
I needed this as my home automation system runs on a 24v DC power bus, but some nodes require a 12v supply, such as security PIRs etc.
The chip is capable of supplying 500mA, but I've used smaller components, so it can supply up to 200mA, which is plenty when most of nodes will draw less than 50mA max.

I'll post up a jpg of the circuit, PM me if you'd like the original design files and BOM.

This will provide 12v output from 13 to 24v input. Line regulation is pretty good, with no current it was showing 11.97v, with a current draw of 100mA voltage was 11.93v
