Exchanging top and bottom layers

#1 Post by wolffdp » 17 Jul 2023, 15:43

I have an odd question. I have a board with a fairly complex outline that has edge connectors with fingers on the bottom side. It was originally done years ago with through hole components. I want to relay this out as a surface mount board. Unless I add a ton of vias, it would make more sense to just put the SMD components on the same side of the board as the edge connector fingers. However, my assembly house wants the components on the 'top' layer.

Before I reenter everything, Is there any way to just flip the entire board and make the top into the bottom and the bottom into the top?

Select all (Ctrl+A), group selected (Ctrl+G), right click on any of selected and choose "Change Side" from submenu. This will swap whole board upside down. Then you can ungroup the selection (Ctrl+Alt+G) and continue board editing.

I just discovered this - Thank you! Absolute lifesaver!
You don't want to know how many hours I spent trying to do this the hard way!
