I've changed the name and location of a NAS, then decided on still another location I want my board files and libraries to be a part of.
In the past I know there was a lot of exporting, text editing, and importing just to fix these issues. Does the newer Library Setup and Environment Variables editor help me with this process?
Specifically, the user libraries (imported and created over time from DT3 and DT4) were kept in a NAS at an IP address which subnet now no longer exists. I want to substitute the new location with roughly the same library structure, but the location is different: 192.168.2.4/Eng/boards/MyLibraries/blah.eli ==> newNAS/Eng/boards/MyLibraries/blah.eli. I can simply change the IP address or host name as seen in Windows, but I ideally would like a universal way to correct these locations without having to change every last component library pointer.
Can I do something in the Library setup with the environment variables and "auto update", whatever that is?
I don't see any explanation on how this library process works, how to move libraries, correct issues, etc.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
David

For anyone who gets here: for at least DT4 and later, you can open each of the libraries in the library configuration tool and change where they each point... to correct their target location to the new location. I changed these library pointers and didn't appear to need the Environment Variables to change.
If DipTrace central can comment on this, it would help those who have moved a workstation, experienced a network change in their company, or are rebuilding a damaged workstation image.

Looking forward to the responses. This is a really hands-on issue. Your analysis of the information is really varied.accelmotion wrote: ↑28 Aug 2024, 18:38 For anyone who gets here: for at least DT4 and later, you can open each of the libraries in the library configuration tool and change where they each point... to correct their target location to the new location.
