How to rotate component leaving annotations/text unrotated

#1 Post by CMDesign » 19 Dec 2024, 13:33

New to DipTrace... perhaps I've missed something obvious, but I am having problems with placing components on the schematic, specifically rotating the component but leaving the annotations/text (i.e. designator, value, etc) readable (i.e. unrotated).

This is what happens when I rotate a component:

This is what I want/need (and I think, should be the obvious way to display readable component info - this image is from other free schematic/PCB software):

Note that when I rotate the component 0 or 180 degrees, it rotates the text properly (keeping a normal orientation), but when I rotate it 90 or 270 degrees, it leaves the text turned.

Aside from using the very cumbersome F10 way of editing and manually rotating the text for each component, have I missed a setting somewhere to fix this?
N.B. I've also noticed some absurd orientations related to placing things like transistors in a schematic, where the labels for the 3 pins have different orientations within a single transistor (and the labels even overlap the symbol!) - I'm now concerned this is how the software works (can't believe paid software does something so basic like this so poorly - or have I missed something, some setting?)

Thanks
Note: The software is the current V5.1.0.1

To change global settings of part markings, please open "View -> Part Markings" from the main menu. There is align option for each parameter. You can customize them. For example, change "Auto" to "Top" for RefDes and "Auto" to "Bottom" for Value.
