Library recovery from schematics

#1 Post by stevensarns » 29 Sep 2024, 17:01

Hello & thanks. Windows re-install lost all libraries. I have all of my schematics. Is it possible to construct a library from the components in a schematic? Specifically; can I create a new user library then move a component from a schematic into that library?

Select one or more components, right click on any of selected and choose "Save to Library" from submenu. There will be one or two options there. Save to File creates new library with selected components. Add to appends the components to custom library if any is opened on the left side of schematic window.

Is there any way to select all components in a hierarchical schematic?

Thank you, Alex, steps you described worked great but having trouble with associated custom patterns. I would like to modify the attached pattern, however, the attached pattern does not appear in the User Components library. Is it possible to recover custom patterns from schematics or layouts? How to? Thanks again. (DipTrace 5.1.0.1)

Similar to saving components from schematic to component library, you can save patterns from PCB Layout to pattern library. Just right click on a pattern in PCB Layout, select "Save to Library -> Save to File" from submenu, enter library name, hint and group and save the file.
