Change component size

#1 Post by tubefreak » 09 Feb 2025, 11:15

How can I change the size of a component? I've checked both the Component Editor and the Pattern Editor but haven't been able to find the settings for this. I'm not referring to the silkscreen—I want to adjust the outer dimensions of the component so that L1 is positioned closer to the silkscreen.

Press softkey [F10] once to enable the "Move component text" mode (bottom right side of display shows which mode is active), left drag text to the desired location and then press the [Esc] key (or press softkey [F10] one more time) to return to the "Default" mode.

Thanks, but that's not the setting I'm looking for. The F10 key and the "Move Component Text" option work well for repositioning the text, but the corner squares remain unchanged. This means using F10 doesn't reduce the area occupied by the component. There must be another setting in the Component or Pattern Editor to adjust this.

In the Pattern Editor, make sure all layers are active in order to find out which shape's handles you are seeing.
p.s. You can also right-click on one of those mystery handles and select "Properties...".

Thanks! Found it! Top Courtyard layer in pattern editor was the setting I was looking for.

if someone needs to modify the actual pad spacing or shape, would that still be handled in the Pattern Editor, or does it require changes in the Component Editor as well?
