DipTrace PCB Layout: Routing and Tracing

#1 Post by iceskatesfrank » 02 Jan 2025, 07:45

Is Design Rule Check (DRC) supported by DipTrace, and if so, how does it work? Additionally, how to establish trace width in accordance with PCB design standards.

Sure, there is DRC in DipTrace PCB Layout. First open "Verification -> Design Rules" to see and edit design rules. Then run "Verification -> Check Design Rules" to perform the verification. In result you will see the list of errors, red circles on the design area showing the errors or the "No Error" message.

In regards to trace width, open "Route -> Net Classes" and edit trace width in class properties. If necessary, you can create multiple net classes with different trace widths, clearances and other properties. Then close the dialog window. If you start routing traces manually or using autorouter new traces will get widths from net classes.

As it is relevant to 'routing' perhaps someone can help with this issue, and it can be recorded here.

The issue is specifically, when routing on a 2 or more layer board. The vias move and 'snap' to the wrong location.
The vias wont remain where they are put.

The problem more generally is, I don't know what this feature is called so it's difficult to find the solution.

The feature that I want to turn off is specifically: 'Vias and traces move and adjust automatically to the wrong place and won't stay put"
