File path unification (environment variables) for datasheets

#1 Post by jgerhardy » 06 Mar 2025, 14:54

Hello DipTrace Community,

is it possible to use the file path unification features for datasheets?

I tried adding a user variable like this:
250306 DT environment variables.jpg
250306 DT environment variables.jpg (34.34 KiB) Viewed 20398 times
and then using the variable in the part's datasheet field in the
component library like this:
250306 DT environment variables.jpg
250306 DT environment variables.jpg (34.34 KiB) Viewed 20398 times
but this does not seem to work. Is this even possible or
am I missing something?

Kind regards,
John

It seems not possible. We will consider using environment variables in the datasheet path. Thank you.

Alex- pls think twice. not needed;
likely a absolutely unmanageable data base of old/not current layers of no confirmed accuracy.
the engineering person is responsible and best knowledgeable ( should be ) of current component status.

Hello Alex,

Thank you for your consideration. For me, this would be a useful function and would also round off your concept of the environment variables in DipTrace.
If you manage to implement, from my side much appreciated.

Kind Regards,
John
