multipart component in hierarchy blocks?

#1 Post by mpaalanen » 10 Sep 2024, 05:42

There are some earlier mentions of this but afaik no resolution.

So the question is: it would be extremely practical to use multipart components such as quad opamps, multiple TVS diodes etc in a hierarchy model. As far as i have tried, doing so will create a new instance of the component for each block, instead of using one part of that component.
Is this still the situation and if so, are there any plans to include this in the development path?

This is still the situation, the software can't split multi-part component between different hierarchical blocks. This won't be easy to do in current implementation of hierarchical design. But we will consider this improvement for future versions.

Thanks for the reply. Saves me from searching. Fingers crossed because this would be a great feature.

I will remove my similar question, but has this situation changed in V5 ? Note that some multiparts are just the symmetrical parts, but some include a non-similar part (like the power connections for the opamps, etc) so the solution could be quite difficult, parsing out the divide-by-x parts individually and the one-per-component ones separately. Best done as a x:1 ratio for best flexibility. Not easy to test, either.
