Pattern management easement

#1 Post by friesen » 02 Oct 2025, 15:32

Is there any way to allow editing of "Hidden patterns" ? Here is the frustrating workflow at present.

1. Download some library from SnapMagic
2. Find out that the 3d file is either wrong or rotated.
3. Save component to library in Schematic editor
4. Save pattern to some arbitrary library in PCB editor
5. Edit pattern in Pattern Editor, fixing 3d issue.
6. Attach pattern in Component Editor
7. Update in schematic
8. Update from schematic in PCB, finally reaching goal.

Possible fixes:
1. Some checkbox to prevent updating some 3d settings in PCB when updating from schematic, and no, the current option is too cumbersome to navigate every time.
2. Allow direct editing of component and pattern, perhaps forget this separate editor idea and combine them. Yes, I've been using Diptrace since 2.0.

We appreciate your suggestions for improving the program and will do our best to implement them.
For now, please note that you can update the 3D model through an alternative method:
1) In PCB Layout, edit the 3D model in the component properties.
2) Save the edited package to the Pattern Library using the context menu command Save to Library.
3) In Schematic, reassign the package using the context menu command Attached Pattern.
