Aisler design rules

#1 Post by grahamm » 06 Jan 2025, 01:33

I thought I'd try out the Aisler integration, but there's a stumbling block.

I've designed my board around 0.125mm traces & spacing. That seems consistent with Aisler's 2-layer ENIG and 4-layer ENIG processes (spoiler alert - when I export to ODB++ and upload directly to their website, everything seems happy).
Nfk ,hen I use File / Order PCB... / Aisler, DipTrace performs a DRC and complains about a bunch of 0.125mm clearances that fail a rule of 0.15mm. It looks like it's applying the rules for Aisler's 2-layer HASL process, for which 0.15mm is the minimum spacing. I don't see any way to select which rules I want to use, or to skip the DRC altogether.

On the other hand, it offers me the option to ignore the violations and "continue with order submission" by pressing No. I do that and nothing happens, other than the "Order PCB from AISLER" dialog disappearing after about 5 seconds. The "Feature Review" video shows a web browser (Firefox??? Can't really tell) popping up and going to Aisler's web page. Unfortunately my company has a policy that blocks every browser except Edge, otherwise I'd use Chrome. Has the Order PCB feature been tested with Edge? Or is there something more nefarious going on, like failing because of the DRC failure?

Thank you for the report, we have added the issue to bug tracker and will investigate it.
It looks like a custom problem. DRC just shows the warning but it can't stop PCB order if you agree to send the order with DRC issues (press No on the corresponding pop up window). It couldn't be browser issue as we tested PCB order with Edge and Firefox including.
Anyway, you can export Gerber + NC drill files and send them to Aisler directly if you can't wait until resolution of the issue.

Yeah, I'm moving ahead with export to ODB++ and uploading to Aisler's site. Seems to be good that way.

Your confirmation that exporting to ODB++ and uploading directly to Aisler's website works fine is a useful tip. Thanks for sharing!
