How to optimize a STEP file for Diptrace?

#1 Post by bpjl » 28 Mar 2025, 19:36

Hi,

I downloaded 3D model of the PIHER PT-10 potentiometer from the network. The file has a STEP format.
PT-10.zip
(288.72 KiB) Downloaded 5284 times
I know I can import it directly in Diptrace but it takes a long time. And later, each time, generating a 3D preview of the designed PCB also requires a lot of time. No sense!

What can I do with this file to make it more friendly for Diptrace?

Regarding the Happy3D program, I remind you that we have 2025 and Windows 11 era :P

The conversion with this website works very well - https://imagetostl.com/convert/file/step/to/wrl

But I think that the file received is quite large. Although in Diptrace it is loaded fairly quickly, but maybe there is a way to convert to such small files as original models from Diptrace?
