- As an option, to visually see the boundaries of vias, pads, and traces, you can enable highlighting for a specific net (right-click a trace → Highlight Net).
Yes, for traces it works, but maybe I explained it wrong. I would like to see it when I place manually vias on cooper poore, so that I do not set a Via into a pad. Sure the DRC will tell me that. But if I can see the Pads (ok in 95% I can see it from the SolderMask) then I would be faster. Also while when I copy a Via and this has no net, I will give me an DRC Error, but then I do not know, if the DRC Error while the via has no net or is the Via onto a pad.
- Yes, this might be convenient in some cases. And in what situations would you use it? Usually, several vias are placed, selected, and then all of them are assigned to a specific net through the context menu.
For Shielded Traces. Usually I route in a grid. So that when I need a shielded trace I have Trace - GND (so thik that I can Place a VIA) - Trace. If I copy then a Via I get DRC's while the VIA is not connectet to a net or maybe while I hit a connection on an other Layer. Why not tell to the Via that he is GND, so that I get 95% less DRC's.
Sure I know that I am a to die off PCB maker, that would have the PCB in his hand and not use any automatic VIA placing in the cooper pours. I made this all by hand.
